I guess I stuffed something up with DSS

Hi all

Had my first attempt at stacking tonight, just some shots from the yard.
I took 12 normal shots and 4 blacks with the lens cap on.

When I loaded the shots into DSS the 12 normal subs went through OK but DSS rejected the blacks with the message 'Not stackable (No transformation found from the reference frame)."

I can't get the Help file to load so I don't know what I did or didn't do wrong.

I am sure you did but did you set your lens cap images as darks in dss, it sounds like it is trying to stack them as lights.

Thanks for the reply.

And no, I didn't set the Darks to Dark in DSS. As I said the Help file won't open so DarkKnight is in the Dark with his Darks.

Cheers

Being as the user manual [in the help tab] is part of DSS I suggest you download DSS again. You access the darks immediately below the pictures.

i have attached an image of DSS, you can see the Dark link is highlighted, if you click on that then brows for your dark files and select them that should work. The lights get added by clicking on the "open picture files" link. if you like you can also add flats and bias files by clicking on their respective links. IMO, the most important thing to stack (other than your lights) is flats, that will improve your images significantly. Also, make sure that all your items are checked before running otherwise they wont be included.

Happy stacking

Thanks Aidan

Strangely, when I just opened DSS I got a different interface, as per your clip. All I can think of is that the download hadn't completed when I opened it yesterday. It was very, very slow downloading, and I was on my monthly download limit.

I'm sure all will be fine now.

Cheers

Does it look like the attached image? if so you are using DSS live, you should have downloaded both versions as a part of the original app download. I haven't used DSS live much and i am not sure how you include darks, flats and bias frames in it. probably better just to use the full DSS
