M17 (Omega Nebula) in Ha

M17 (Omega Nebula) in Ha - 4 hrs x 20min subs. This is a wip as I still need to get the S2 & O3 data for a colour image when the skies clear over Melbourne again.

For this standalone image, I pushed the data really hard to see what's around the DSO, ie: shockfronts, dust etc. Seems that the dynamic range of this thing is enormous!

Lots of interesting stuff going on there, but due to the extreme stretch you may not want to pixel peep too closely!

Andy, that's very very deep for 4 hrs. You've shown beautifully how the swan is really an integral part of the frozen lake in which she swims.

Thanks Marc- there is a lot going on there that's for sure. Hopefully I can do justice to a colour version soon. Fingers crossed for a break in the weather later in the week.

Cheers Scotty, my first go at M17. I had camera issues when it was in season last year, so I'm hoping for a nice image result when done.

Thanks Mike, you've certainly phased that eloquently - only thing is though, like the running chicken, I can't make out the swan! Probably just me...

A gtreat shot Andy. It is very deep and I was not aware of the other half of the Swan your image clearly shows.
