Andrews C11 pricing

Can anyone explain this to me?

I was just having a geez at some prices over at Andrews website.

Was looking at the C11 XLT OTA.

While the difference in price between the aluminium and carbon fibre 9.25 OTA is just $100, the difference in price between the aluminium and carbon fibre C11 is a staggering $800!!!
I am led to believe these tubes (9.25 and 11) are pretty much the same length. So we're not talking substantially more carbon fibre tubing.

So why the massive discrepancy in the C11 tubes?

Thanks

York Optical, for example, only have a $280 diff between the aluminium and carbon fibre C11 OTA

No takers on this puzzle?

Hi Matt

From the OPT website at http://www.optcorp.com/productList.a...00&mid=14&pg=1
I obtained the following prices in $US.

11" f/10 Aluminum SCT OTA with Standard StarBright Coatings [CE-91036] $1,995.00

11" f/10 Aluminum SCT OTA with StarBright XLT Coatings [CE-91036-XLT] $2,180.00

11" f/10 Carbon Fiber OTA with Standard StarBright Coatings [CE-91035] $2,095.00

11" f/10 Carbon Fiber OTA with StarBright XLT Coatings [CE-91035-XLT] $2,290.00

Alu Std: $1,995.00
Alu XLT: $2,180.00 (Alu XLT – Alu Std = $185)
CF Std: $2,095.00 (CF Std - Alu Std = $100)
CF XLT: $2,290.00 (CF XLT - Alu XLT = $110)

Looks like XLT adds $185/195 and CF adds $100/110 based on OPT prices.

Just check you are not comparing e.g. an Alu Std with a CF XLT which is $295.00.

Cheers

Dennis

I'll go back and have another look but I'm pretty sure I'm comparing apples with apples ie Starbright XLT with Starbright XLT

Even allowing for your thorough comparison work there's not an $800 difference to be found!

EDIT - Nope. As per my original post. Both scopes have StarBright XLT coatings. The only difference is the alu Vs CF tube.

Shocker!

Have a look for yourself, Dennis old son

http://www.andrewscom.com.au/site-section-10.htm
  • C11-A OTA only...$3499 AUD
  • C11-CF Carbon Fibre OTA only...$4299 AUD...
both with Starbright XLT Coatings

Hmm, that looks out of wack compared to other’s prices? I wonder if there has been a transcription error, or maybe certain local agents enjoy preferred prices on selected models?

Cheers

Dennis

PS - Where did you get the York Optical prices, their website?
