Ngc 55

This only about the second time I've ever imaged this galaxy because I always used to have trouble finding guide stars. I had a lot of trouble with the background which distressingly probably means that my light polluted back yard is becoming more light polluted. Anyway I hope I've done this impressive galaxy some degree of justice.

Wow, tip top stuff Steve as we expect from you and your rig!
The galaxy is wonderful, but look at all the background galaxies you scooped too!

Thanks Michael. Actually I thought that M82 in the North was called the cigar.

Thanks Rob. There sure are a lot of galaxies in this region.

Great Steve!

Really enjoyed the large view, don't think I've seen so much detail in NGC 55 .

Cheers,

Justin.

Great star colour variation with nice tight footprints....(something that I notice is often lacking in OSC images)

Beautifully resolved galaxy detail & colour.

Nice one

Nice Shot Steve. I really like the colours you have brought out. This galaxy is quite often not very interesting but you have managed to bring out some interesting structure.

Fabulous Steve. One of your best. I prefer these STXL11002 images to your STXL6303E images.

Thanks Greg. You know what? So do I. The STXL6303E has returned from the US and hasn't been taken out of the box yet. the 6303 excels in some things such as planetary nebula haloes, a project in which I'm intermittently involved but the 11002 is a superior general purpose camera.

Thanks Rex. It has the reputation of being bland but I think the structure needs long exposures.

Thanks Mike. I'm surprised you haven't done it. It would be a snap with your dark skies.

Thanks Peter. I think the AO-X helped a bit.

Huge Scale Steve! Tight guiding. Really nice colours too. Certainly one of the best ones I have seen from you in my opinion. AOX guiding at its best by the looks.

Maybe just some ringing around your brighter stars that is a little distracting.

The extra faint fuzzies is nice too.

Thanks Paul. I agree about the ringing and might go back and fix that. The AOX is certainly working well. I did have a lot of gradient problems which I think was due to light pollution. I envy your remote setup.

Very sharp. The level of detail in the background galaxies approaches those taken at high altitude in the desert. Nice colour too.
