Processing one of last night's images. This is NGC6164.
Text from Anne's Astronomy News.
"NGC 6164 is a bipolar emission nebula of about 4 light-years across that lies some 4,200 light-years away in the southern constellation of Norma. It is approaching us at approximately 53.9 kilometers per second."
Image details: Bintel 8" F4 Newtonian, Baader MPCC MKIII, HEQ5 Pro unguided, 104 x 30 seconds with a Baader Semi-Apo filter, 201 x 30 seconds with a CLS filter, stacked in DSS, combined and processed in Photoshop. Pentax K-5.

That's fantastic Kevin! Lovely and sharp, what ISO are you shooting at?
Cheers
Jo
Thanks Jo. ISO 1600 for the Baader filter and ISO 3200 for the CLS. I'm not sure ISO makes any difference to this camera but I need to do more tests to find out.

Thanks Rick. Yes that outer shell is a faint one. I was looking at it on google images but didn't expect to get any of it. I'm happy to at least get a trace.

Thanks Mike. I was wondering if it had a common name?

Thanks Greg. First time I have imaged this so didn't know what to expect from my basic setup.
Thanks Tony. Which emission does the outer shell produce? It looks green/blue in some pics I've seen although I'm not sure which pallet they used. OIII?

Kevin,
The outer shell is almost all Oiii but with some small areas where there is a little Ha, so it's a teal colour. I did 70+ hours on this object last year at 2760mm FL as a narrowband project from home and I feel like we are well acquainted
Thanks Rick. I saw your image of it on Astrobin. Looks like soap bubbles. Man alive 70 hours. Don't think I'll be spending that sort of time on it. Especially with 30 second subs.
This is a nice wide field shot of this emission nebula. I like your colour of the whole image. I am currently doing this object in the RC12, there will be many hours of OIII and I can see why Rick did 70 hours on it. I concur with Rick too that I can see a slight hint of the OIII shell surrounding the main nebula.
