Corona Australis region

This is 3.6 hours of a region in Corona Australis (The Southern Crown) that contains globular cluster NGC6723, blue reflection nebula NGC6726 / NGC6729, dark nebula and dusty nebula. This is the first time I've been able to capture the dusty nebula. It's a tricky one to process and it seems my framing could have been better if I had panned down a bit more.

Capture details: Bintel 8" F4 Newtonian, Baader MPCC MKIII, HEQ5 Pro unguided, 429 x 30 seconds, Pentax K-5. Poor K-5. Too many of these will kill the shutter.

Pesky satellites (or aliens) crossed the field numerous times!

Kevin, that's rather wonderful! You've done a masterly job on the HH jet - what I call "Yoda's Walking Stick". The tendrils in the reflection nebulosity are great, as is the thick dust. The framing is fine as it is. Lovely pic.

Best,
Mike

Good work on the glob too, Kevin. It's hard to get everything looking good in this complex FOV.

Cheers,
Rick.

That is great Kevin, you've pulled out a fair bit of the dust. as rick said the glob often looks out of place but not here - looks terrific.

cheers

That is a very high quality Corona Australis Kevin. Nicely processed and well framed. You got the glob nicely resolved as well.

Greg.

Thanks Rick! The glob was tricky. Wasn't sure if I got it right.

Thanks Russ! My last attempt was with the refractor and that image, even though it went for 4+ hours lacked dust. The reflector at F4 seems to have done a better job.

Good work again Kevin!

I notice your images progressively getting stronger and richer in colour, some DSO's lend them selves to strong saturation.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Justin. I hope I haven't overdone the colour. Deeper time means I can "stretch" the colour further. But that doesn't necessarily mean I should! And sometimes it depends if I have a headache or not when processing.

Always personal taste.

For me nothing like a well done colourful image.

Just look at Leo's M82.

Cheers,

Justin.
