Hi everyone,
I would like to offer my Celestron 9.25" XLT Starbright coated OTA for sale. 2350 mm focal length (f/10).
Some History
I've been using this scope since 2013 and bought it from these forums. On purchase, I sent it to Bintel for a quick once over and Don mentioned to me (confidentially because companies don't like you seeing their mirror defects) that this has some of the best optics he's seen in a C9.25 for a while. He's right, these are 'cracker' optics.
All my pictures (bar the ones I took with the WO-GT81) have been taken through this scope with the imaging train setup you can see in the shots on this post. They aren't up to Paul's standard but then what is??!? My pictures are at
http://skyslab.galaxy.my/ (go to the galleries menu).
I've upgraded the scope with a JMI Motofocus which means no need to touch it and shift the image while focusing the primary mirror. You still get a little image shift (such is the nature of moving the primary mirror) but only a tiny amount. The focuser motor can be removed if you want to do that (as you can see in the pictures) and allows you to focus by hand if you really want to do that. The motor has electromagnetic braking for very precise control and is variable speed.
I've also added a Losmandy mount bar and ADM accessory bar. This has been sitting on a Paramount MX for some time now but if you prefer a CG-5 style mount then the original saddle bar also comes with the scope.
Good Condition
You can see from pictures of the corrector plate that it's in good condition. There is a little dust but does not affect the performance of the scope at all. This has been housed in a good environment and well taken care of.
Comes with the aluminium dust cap and Celestron dew shield, other accessories but not the mount of imaging train!
What it comes with
The list of accessories is:
- Losmandy dovetail plate
- ADM accessories bar
- Original 6 x 30 finder scope
- Dew heater strap (you'll need a controller)
- Bahtinov mask
- JMI Motofocus primary focuser and hand controller
- Dew Shield
- Additional SCT finderscope dovetail base
To sweeten it a little I can throw in a William Optics 2" SCT carbon fibre durabright coated diagonal.
Euwmuchisit?
All of this would cost about about $2200 new not including shipping. Obviously this is not new (!) but the scope is in excellent condition and the accessories are worth a bit.
I would like to ask for $1600 pick up (anywhere near Canberra) - or add shipping and I'm flexible on how it's shipped but it's a bit heavy and bulky...9kg not including the accessories. If being shipped it will need a little collimation after it is shipped, but right now it's in pretty good collimation.
Thanks for looking
Simon.
