New Hobby, Scope Advice Sought..........

I have recently joined a new group and would like advice on appropriate equipment for it ........

http://cloudappreciationsociety.org

I am making this switch in desperation after finding that trying to get a clear night in Canberra's south for astronomy is nigh on impossible ..........

My current equipment works fine when there are no clouds around but for some reason are of little use on 99% of Canberra's nights.

Are any other enthusiasts about?

I am also considering joining the " Excessively Bright Streetlight Appreciation Working Group"

Give me your TOA and your clouds will go.

Then offer Ian Fry $13.50 for his Vixen NA140SS (more apertrure, no worry about CA on clouds).

VOILA!

You seem to be in the same boat as me; I only get about 40-45
nights per year suitable for longer runs of subs.

You're not alone ... Persistently cloudy conditions coupled with a 2h drive to a decent dark site are why I won't spend much more on this than I have - until I can retire to a better location.
