Easter Saturday eclipse from Mackay

Managed to get a few shots off between the clouds, although there was a light smear of high level throughout.

8" F4 Newtonian, HEQ5 Pro, Baader MPCC MKIII, 5 seconds at ISO 200, Pentax K-5.

Nice clear shot -

I took a shot with a 300mm telephoto
on my Canon DSLR but it wasn't very good.
Notice it never went to true totality?
My shot is all blurry compared to yours.
I should have got out my telescope.

Nice one Kevin!!, glad you got it. It was raining at home so I took the 8" west near Mt Coolan n got great views n phone pics. My first with a 'scope . . . awesome!! AND Ganymede chucked in a side eclipse reappearance, AND my first view of Saturn this year . . . .

Nice exposure and sharp focus . The clouds parted at the right time for us in Mackay .

Best looking details, so far.

I tried with my sanyang lens,
Nice FOV size but very narrow focus band and does not hold focus.
An d star images are all little comets, hard to get a central alginment.
So in short not a good lens....

Thanks all. We were very lucky here in Mackay. Started out overcast but the clouds literally melted away. Still a little smear of high level during totality, but pretty good just the same.

I'm very happy with my Bintel 8" F4 scope. It takes great images. In fact I seem to have lost some of my lust for refractors now.
