Quickies from the Paddock :)

G'day.

I have been having lots of trouble with my tracking the last few months so haven't been able to capture anything decent, so here are a few low res quickies.

All the shots (except the last one) are under 30 minutes worth of 20 to 30 second subs.

8" f5 newt, Sony A5100.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers
Jo

Great stuff; the Sony seems to be the goods.

They are all beautiful images Jo. Hopefully you can overcome the tracking / guiding problems so we can really see what that fantastic newt is capable of.
Particularly love the extreme widefield. Is this another mosaic?

Thanks a lot Bruce, yeah I hope to work out the tracking soon. The last wide field is a single shot from a new 12mm f2 lens that I got for my Sony, it's a great lens for nightscapes.

Cheers

I'm going to have to put my SONY back on the scope despite the lack of remote control and focussing. Those are just gorgeous shots. Well done.

What sort of issues are you having with your guiding ? What hardware\software are you using ?
It took me a while to figure out how to get mine to play ball but now it's almost 'Point the scope' & 'Pick a star' simple.

They ARE lovely shots ...

Thanks very much! Glad you liked them.

my main problem is that I don't have any guiding, my mount technology is still back in the dark ages.

All I have is a stepper driving the RA roller on my horse shoe mount. Not sure if water has got in the stepper driver circuit boards and mucked up the speed or if my PA has gone out of whack. It has me puzzled, generally when I do drift aligning I can get the PA and tracking pretty good but the few nights I have spent on it lately haven't helped.

Must be time to build a new mount

Cheers
Jo
