M87

This galaxy never gets more than about 40 degrees above the horizon at my latitude and is right in one of the more light polluted parts of my sky but I thought it was worth a shot. Conditions weren't too bad for a change but obviously the seeing wasn't too good at this altitude.

Cheers

Steve

Thanks Mike and Greg. Not a spectacular galaxy for sure but still an interesting one.

Good to see some love given to a less "sexy" target, Steve. You made it look quite attractive.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Ross. I didn't think it was too bad for so low in the sky.

Thanks Rick. I guess M87 certainly wouldn't win Miss Galaxy 2015 but it's interesting for other reasons.

Nice, and like you say an interesting Galaxy.

You have the jet I think coming out South of the image? Had a quick read up on the Hubble heritage site. A shed load of globular clusters in there.

Nice capture.

Hi Steve,
nice picture & certainly an interesting target.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messier_87

It would be good to do a mosaic of the area that could be added to over the years.

cheers
Allan

Thanks Allan. It's really a bit low for me so I don't think I'll be doing a mosaic in a hurry.

Thanks David. Yes - the jet is there. I'm trying to make it more prominent.

Thanks Ray. I've come to the conclusion that the jet isn't all that difficult.
