M104 & m20

Hi All,

Here's the result of struggling with a (as it became evident on the 3rd night during packup) loose saddle... I was scratching my head about the sudden "slip" and loss of guide star at random times, and no particular reason, but always happened at the beginning of the imaging session, once it settled (as it turned out on the lose screw against gravity) the rest of the night behaved itself....

Another thing to check during setup.... could be worse I guess, the screws could become completely loose and the OTA falling off during the night, smashing and me having to sell a kidney to get a new OTA.

I'm quite happy with the result, got a fair bit of detail on both objects. Correct me if I wrong, but some of the faint fuzzy points close to it are globular clusters.

The trifid nebula was a quick 90 minute exposure before packing up. The M104 crossed the meridian so I stopped exposing subs for the night, as the last few nights... and the M20 nebula came into good height, so instead of just backing up at 3 am I thought I'll give it a quick go...

The First Two are Cropped and Full frame pics of the Sombrero thaken with the modded Canon 40D, third is the M20 and the last two are the images I took using the peltier cooled DMK41 for comparison.

All pics are taken at f10.. 2032mm.

Thanks for looking...

Mariusz
