In the words of Barney Gumble of The Simpsons, after graduating from space-flight school and drinking a slurp of non-alcoholic Champaigne: "It begins!"
Here is a shot of Jupiter taken with Fuji A350 digital camera held up to eyepiece. The camera would overexpose the image, even after I manually turned exposure down to minimum. So I had to turn on the flash to get a faster shutter speed!
Yes this is Jupiter photographed with a flash!
Taken through 10mm Pentax XW eyepiece in 8" Dob, with 5MP camera with optical and digital zoom full on hand held. Bit of processing in the Gimp.
That's great Steve. It’s a wonderful feeling to capture your first image, and you’ve managed to show a lot of good detail too. I remember developing and printing my first B&W film. Watching the print develop in the developer dish under the red light of my darkroom was as magical as grabbing my first ToUcam image of Jupiter.
great shot steveo!!! glad that you have joined us in the astrophoto world. Isn't it nice to have something to show to your mates and family rather than telling them what you see
Thats a great episode of the Simpsons isnt it Steve. Love the " well Buzz....if that is your real name??..."! And the wall in mission control is used to measure TV ratings ;-)
