Test run for AZ-EQ6

Last night quickly tested my new AZ-EQ6. It tracks better than HEQ5 so I am looking forward to this winter even more

Tried the Lambda Cen Nebula - 25 subs 5 minutes each. Minimal processing - just a touch of noise reduction.

Nicely done, Slawomir. I've added your shot to my "superb works by others" collection, to help me plan a mosaic one day.
Best,
Mike

Thank you Mike

Added 15 minutes of OIII data to the previous image...http://www.astrobin.com/full/164156/0/

I will certainly get back to this nebula in the coming weeks and make a more dedicated attempt at it, as it rightly deserves.

Yeah very nice test result Slaw, a lovely Ha shot that, I can see the smoothing but it doesn't look plastic, composing the colour work will be the challenge of course so good luck, should be a ripper

Thank you Mike, I will certainly be more careful with noise reduction.

Yes, this nebula does not seem to emit exciting amounts of photons in OIII, and even less in SII, so colour work will be an interesting challenge.

So many variations in out comes to see for this area too, let's see what you come up with

Thank you - I really like Sony's CCD, just subtracting bias frames during pre-processing.

Thank you Rick. Inspired by your mosaics, I may try to compose one in colour myself, perhaps a 2x2 mosaic would be a good project for the coming school holidays...

Yes, right out of the box. I did not manage to collect more data that night, because I spent too much time polar aligning the mount...it is actually quite challenging to accurately polar align from a balcony in the city with only about 1/6 of the sky available to the scope...but next time setting up should be much quicker!
