Attached Orion Nebula. Very very new to this and seeing whats possible with the short exposures i took.. cant wait to get out there and try much longer ones now. cant wait to afford Pixinsight as well as it seems ive used up the free trial period now.

21 light frames
21 dark frames
Stacked in DSS - little bit of editing
put into photoshop and processed to this.

im happy with the outcome for now.. not to sure about he colouring though but gotta start somewhere

Hi Ben, Good start. Colours are pretty normal for M42 and you are showing hints of the background colour and even the 'Running Man' Nebula. Your stars are also nice and round, good tracking. Are you guiding yet ?
It could probably process a bit further to show more detail. Curves in Photoshop or similar might pull out more.

yes im guiding now however the limitations of the Nikon D3200 is theres no real software except some third party free software digicamcontrol that ive found to control the camera in any way. I also cant go past 30 second images this way which is very limiting. If i want to make use of the bulb mode i have to do it manually. I just ebayed an intervalometer which may get me past past this issue which should arrive next week,

I did try to tweak the photo some more but it ended up looking like the photo was getting noiser and worse so i stopped there. hopefully this weekend ill go out and get 2,3,4 times as many subs and see how that works out

If you are limited to 30 secs for now, why are you guiding? If your polar alignment is anywhere near, you should be able to go unguided for far longer than that. I track for around 180 secs with my 80mm with
only rough polar alignment. The intervalometer will help greatly.

That looks very good. Nice round stars. You will go much deeper with the intervalometer. Just get one off eBay.

Raymo, Im guiding purely because at the moment its all practise for when i go out to a dark location. i want to know ive got all my ducks in a row and all the frustrations are behind me before i trek into the wilderness lol. i can do 20 min guided shots quite easily just i have to do them manually on the camera side which is annoying and the amount of street light i have at home is beyond annoying. but as said its all practise first.
