so you look at the stars hey?
what else do you do with you time to entertain yourself?
got other hobbies?
travel alot?
lets hear about it
I will start.
I have been an avid mountainbiker for 15 years. I spent 5 years of my chosen sport racing then decided the early mornings were getting too much for me and went recreational. Now that I find myself with family commitments I get out alot less but the trade-off is pretty rewarding.
compter gaming on and offline has always been a love of mine that i've never really grown out of (36 and still gaming)
my latest hobby is goecaching.... kinda like treasure hunting with a GPS.... love my gadgets. I have only been doing this for about a week... www.geocaching.com

Wellllll....
My day job is in the Aussie Air Force as a pilot, which means I get to travel around a lot (in September I visited every state/territory bar tassy). Home for me is Daintree up in far north queensland, so a lot of my hobbies are based around this... I do a lot of freediving (like scuba but without the tanks, basically holding your breath for stupid ammounts of time), fishing and photography.
I've been interested in space since I was a little kiddy and the goal is to one day fly for NASA.
If anyones ever in Perth and wants to go for a dive or just beat up some midgets, let me know
Cheers,
Brad
PS I love these smily's

Well, when I am not working, which is as much as possible, I like to watch DVD's and have a really kick ass home theatre with a Sony plasma.
I also have a really nice fish tank which gives me a real buzz (see one of my other threads)
I also like to garden and take photography of really bizzar things, wind farms, flies at close up, plant life and other things.

Well this is my main hobby now, before I got into astronomy seriously I was an avid online games fan.. I still enjoy playing them occassionally but just don't have the time anymore, as I wasn't just a casual player, I was right into it.. Was running a successful gaming clan, was a gameop for Telstra GameArena, palying in clan matches etc.. it just took up too much time and didn't leave enough time for my growing interest in astronomy.
Plus, my 3rd baby was born and I knew I just wouldn't have time for 2 time-consuming hobbies, so I had to choose one
I've always been interested in sport too, played basketball in several local competitions, played A-grade tennis for a few years, playing mixed-netball at the moment, and have been on a fitness trip this year doing some jogging and a bit of weight training (have lost 12 kilos!).
My other main hobby is family.. have 3 young kids (5.5 yr old boy Jacob, 3.5 yr old girl Eliza, and 7 month old girl Abbey), they definitely keep me busy!
Started trying to be an amateur photographer as well with my digital camera, but my life leaves little time to develop that hobby very much.
btw loopy i'm jealous!

Loopy,
no, never joined the Great New Zealand Aero Club, but after forking out for all the time, I wish I had.
Fly a Squirrel, an AS350B3, very nice. On private ops, owned by a family that use it to "get around". Leather seats, no hook, so really I am a taxi driver. Great life.
I take it a PC-9 can't stop, and hover?

small interesting fact:
the name i have chosen for thisw and all other forums (ving) is actually from way back in my unreal tournament days. Its part of the full name i used: [MOO]ving Target, shortened to ving. people tend to think I am asian because of this name but I am not
clan [MOO] rocks!

Hey guys,
Aragorn: Nope, not me, that was the bosses... there's a graduation on tomorrow for the 200th course to pass through here. That was a practice for the fly over during the parade. If you were out and about yesterday arvo at about 3:30-4:30, you might have seen the Thunderbird - a formation of 26 planes, with the guys that were graduating in the back seats.
Ice: I think I missed something here.. why are you jealous? Oh, because I could kick your butt at CS?
Gary: Can't stop or hover, but we are auth'd to do 320kts at 250' AO... The squirrel is a great bird too, all the news channels over here use them because they're so maneuvrable... (You think I'd be able to spell that word by now... )

haha not quite.. well, maybe at CS, but not at Q2 or RtCW
I'm jealous that you fly fighter planes! Always wanted to do something like that!
I'm building a model of a fighter plan (F111-E) with my son at the moment

Ahhh.... well I don't fly fighters yet, but the PC9 is still a sweet plane
Hey if you ever want an autograph, I'll trade you for a go of your scope...
Cheers,
Brad
