Not sure about the east of the state, but if you look here http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...d.php?t=130984 we have the New Snake Valley Camp coming up in March (Friday March 20 to Sunday March 22)

Only group I know of is the melb Astros society meet sometimes in SW gippsland

The Astronomical Society of East Gippsland meetings are held at Bairnsdale, Perry Bridge, and Lakes Entrance. Dark sky site near Bairnsdale airport.

This is a small group which operates in Bairnsdale and the surrounding districts.
