Cool Mind blowing 32 cylinder model engine

José Manuel Hermo Barreiro, known by the nickname Patelo, a retired
Spanish naval architect, has posted a four minute, 47 second YouTube
video
of the assembly and running of a miniature W32 engine model.

The project took Patelo some 2520 hours and 850 pieces were machined
by hand and assembled with 632 screws.

The video dramatically demonstrates the levels of precision achieved by
balancing pennies on the running motor which is powered by compressed
air.

Inspiring to watch, the video is here -

Magnificent!

Here's his Facebook page, if you want more examples of his "small engine porn":

That's pretty awesome even though it's powered by compressed air and not an internal combustion engine.

The best scale engine I've seen was this guy Pierre Scerri who built a 1:3 scale Ferrari 312 PB from scratch. The story I heard years ago was that he crafted everything (there is even a 1:3 scale key to start it) except there were some small parts for the gearbox that he didn't have the tools to fabricate. Apparently an engineer at Ferrari heard of this and offered to fabricate the parts he needed to complete the model. It's pretty amazing:

Also these guys make some incredible little IC engines for RC cars:

That is amazing, he must have a fantastic workshop.
I didn't see any ignition system, must be a diesel. no oil either.

Hi Mike,

It doesn't do any combustion and is being run from an external compressed
air source.

Nevertheless, the precision in machining and fitting is testimony to what
the mind and the hand of a highly skilled individual are capable of.

And the result of this craftsmanship is a thing of beauty.

That's pretty cool. Great craftsmanship. I recall seeing a miniature v8 on you tube. Same kind of stuff but much much smaller.
