Thumbs up Televue 32mm Plossl First Light

I had my new TV 32mm Plossl today, and got to put some star light through it tonight. Great views of various DSO's including NGC3766, NGC3293, M4, M62, M19, M9, M22 (huge glob), Lagoon and Trifid Nebulae.

Sharp stars across the field (didn't measure it tonight) - the sky appeared as black felt, even in polluted Newcastle - I found the view improved as I dark adapted - this scope and EP give an exit pupil of about 5.3mm, and the secondary smudge was noticed at times. This lessened as I dark adapted.

Dark site initiation this weekend.....

Overall - great EP - tonight I found the views through the 20mm more comfortable.

It's just a nice eyepiece.
My advice: Don't sell it. Even if your collection eventually contains all 2" Naglers, this eyepiece will still be near-ideal in a second, smaller scope.
It's comfortable, well corrected, and well corrected, even at f/4.
That 32 will show more light pollution than the 20mm, which is also a very nice eyepiece, but I love the view that turns the edge into a thin black ring around the field of view, almost as if the field is suspended in front of the scope's tube.
How did it fare in the dark site?

Dark site - because I spent a day packing the car with myself, my partner, two large dogs, food for long weekend, two scopes (his and hers) - we even hired a trailer to carry the extras..... it was solid cloud for 72hours.... typical!
I have been using it in the ED80 this week - beautiful.....

That "Cloud Rule" gets me every now and then, too.
After all, it's only REALLY clear on Full Moon, or so it seems.

Except for this full moon for us down here - because there was a partial lunar eclipse! To be fair I did see it, just, in between the clouds......
