Is that in the middle a new development or a processing artifact? I haven't seen it in any other images.

Sorry, I was wrong, it doesn't show in the single frames, but shows as soon as the highlights are subdued
in the stacked result, in fact it shows in the untouched autosave image from DSS, but not quite as clearly.
Maybe it wasn't noticed because most of the images are at a smaller scale.
I suppose it must be an artefact, but I can't imagine for the life of me what it could be.

It must be a DSS artefact; I just did a quick stack of four subs, and no sign of the artefact.
