Luna: Higher-Res Rilles - 31st August

This image is my only 3x barlow effort from Saturday night, 31st August. The seeing wasn't holding up, so I dropped back to the 2x afterwards.

It's of the same region of rilles, showing Rima Hyginus, Rima Ariadaeus and Rimae Triesnecker.

It's a 6-image mosaic, but cropped a lot of unusable image from the result so it's probably the result of 4 avi's. 40 alignment points were used in total (10 each avi), and 75 frames from each alignment point were stacked in registax 4beta.

The mosaic was created in photoshop, levels adjusted, and to AstraImage for LR deconvolution, back to photoshop for levels + high-pass filter.

This image is the final one from my session on the 31st, so I can start processing some hi-res shots from the 2nd Sep.

Dennis, I've got 4 options in terms of filters.. None, R, G or B. I didn't want to use None, because I wanted to block IR (the astronomiks have IR blocking built in).

Zac uses a Wratten #25a (red) filter, because he says it helps to combat some of the effects of bad seeing. Mike Wirths (on astromart forums) uses a green filter (probably for the same reason). So my using the green was more of an experiment.

However the experiment was ill-planned, because I didn't take an image of the same area with a different filter to be able to compare. If I understood more about how the different wavelengths are effected by seeing, then I might be able to more accurately answer your question.

Hopefully bird or Zac might be able to chip in.

Chuck reckons he might use one of my rille shots.. hope so.. He never ended up using my Plato mosaic
