Feathertouch conversion

Just seeing if anyone has converted their original focuser on a Tak refractor to the latest Feathertouch full focuser unit {not the micro assembly} and happy with the upgrade.
Thinking of changing one on a TSA-120, the focuser is good but for fine movements with heavy loads {even a 2 inch diagonal with a largish eyepiece} inward focus is not possible.
The feathertouch is rated for 15 pounds which is great but wonder if that is with the brake semi/fully engaged. Also the adapter/collar has three set screws that function as a camera adjuster, looks good but worried about how it self centres /collimation ?

I wouldn't. ..

With the Tak MEF dual speed add on to the stock focuser, my FSQ-106N will focus with a 2.5kg CCD camera hanging off the back easily, and at f/5 the critical focus zone is microns of movement.

Adjust the Teflon tensioner screws (the sealed grub screws on the top of the focuser between the lock knob) for better tension/feel.

It seems not many know how to adjust a Tak focuser. It is very simple actually. I have also now fixed 2 "broken" or gritty MEF units - again very easy. Last one, which was terrible, took me about 5 minutes...

We have converted ours. The standard Tak focuser is nice, but the feather touch is miles ahead in feeling.

Cheers......found this article for adjusting the orginal Tak focuser and will give it a
go. I can't detect any movement {or flex} in the focuser it's just using the fine focus it wont rack in, even with applying tension with the locking knob, my 106 has the same problem as well .

??
I thought the TSA focuser was fine but as I was given a FT MPA for it by a very generous vendor, I fitted that and yes it was smoother but not by much.

Should that read: Even WITHOUT applying tension with the lock .......
