Fell off the chair - stunning comet detail

Don't know if this has been posted before but what words can you use to adequately describe these images.

Had I have not know I would have thought it was an image of the Alps somewhere taken at night time.

An interesting object indeed.

Fantastic detail. This is what I have wanted to see from Rosetta. Thanks a lot.

I clicked the Rosetta blog link and it seems the scientists are saying the comet has stretched - in the image we see the two lobes with the 'neck' (this is where the comet stretched) in between. They are considering theories of how this has occurred.

I wonder why they think it is stretching that has occurred?

The detail is great, the boulders in the valley and on top of the cliff, great stuff, clear skies.
