I attended the ASSA open night last night at the Heights observatory. Skies were clear, no moon, but a reasonable amount of pollution both light and dust. It was good to have a peer through members scopes, seems Cats and Casses are popular with a few Newts.
A number of nebulae spotted. I asked about Comet Lovejoy but no one seemed to be looking for it.
Thanks to the members for making it a fun night. The family did enjoy it, I found it helps gauge the limit they will observe to.
