EQMOD wanders around won't centre on star

Help!
My EQMOD is giving me the ****s. I get my scope to align with stars, but everytime it gets there, it wont lock on, just wanders around the star and slews randomly.
I tried to stop and re slew, but it plays up again. Arggghhhh
I am running on EQMOD v 1.24g
At first I thought it was my gamepad, as it was parking randomly as well, but since I unplugged the gamepad, and it is still playing up.

HELP
Bo

Hi bo

Seems strange

Is it talking to the scope properly at all?
Perhaps it's doing a spiral search?
Check the ascom driver and the settings for your scope - have you connected up to the correct scope? I.e. correct eq version etc
Also try disconnecting any stellarium software I had problems early on using c2a - though this is now resolved.
Good luck, you should get reliable ascom with an eq6.

Thanks Karen,
I shut down everything and restarted, so far things are holding up.
I suspect it's my game pad that's causing the problem (it was an old PlayStation 2 wired game pad).
It was very frustrating, as the scope seems to be doing a sprial search, the slew, then search and slew, despite my efforts to park the scope.
Anyway, now the cloud gods are smiling in Melbourne, so it looks like an early night.
I will try with another game pad and see if it still plays up.

The Xbox controller is reasonably stable but it does time out which is very frustrating
In the end I stopped Using the controller and went with the pc direct mode the laptop and the auto star
Good luck
