Some flowers from the 350D

hi guys,

Just started playing around with my 350d. Heres some flowers from my yard lol still have no clue on which settings to use . I think i set the camera on 'the flower' setting

welcome to the world of flower photography
nice to see people using thier dslrs for things other than space

i like the 3rd one the best for some reason

too bad you can turn the mod on and off with a switch. wouldnt it be grand!

Can beat auto settings, I like number three (4.jpg), not sure why, its sort of relaxing.

Not quite a grand, but for about US$ 200 you can get a screw in lens mounted filter. Mind you I need to get lens first.

#1 has the best focus and DOF, but I like #3 in terms of composition and subject.

The DOF in #4 isn't quite correct, it's not focused on the petals which I think is what you were trying to achieve.

Make sure you watch the red focus point flash, to determine what it's focusing on.

If you line up what you want to focus on, and hold the shutter halfway, focus will be locked. You can then compose your shot (move the camera to get the subject in frame how you want it) and then press the shutter the rest of the way.

thanks guys. so many functions to learn and so much different to what im used to a happy snaps camera.
