Hi Alistair,
quite a good pic there although I am on a re-processing binge today
& would like to have a go with your pic too.
I think it has too much of one colour - a strange blue.
Would that be OK if I post another version?

Sure but I'll post a link to the fits instead so you can start from scratch
I did increase the blue, might tone it down
Hi Alistair,
I had a quick go at the FITS file for RGB.
It didn't come out blue at all but quite red.
I'll have to have another look tomorrow as I'm confused.
It came out like this.

hi Allan,
yep, not sure why it had an orange cast, but a color wipe in startools removed that and shifted it to blue. I did some adjustments in the color module to reduce the red bias, hence the blue.
It was at an altitude of around 38degrees when I imaged it, so it can't be light pollution that normally shows up even in dark skies if you go below 25 degrees, so not sure why.
I think I applied the measured G2V ratio for my filters and ccd when combining in maxim, I'll try again without any change in ratio.
the ratio I measured in ccdautopilot was 1.13:1:1.32 R:G:B.
edit: I did a combine with a 1:1:1 ratio and its a lot more yellower. the G2V ratio gives a manageable white balance.
Cheers
Alistair

Good one Alistair, a fine image of this galaxy really..except for the colour ...not sure what is going on there though? Allan should be able to sort it for you he is the resident IIS repro guru...took the mantle from me..but with other peoples data
I think I know what went wrong, I must not have chosen the red filter in Maxim's sequence for Red and chose the green filter instead, the fits headers confirm that.
I found one sub with Red, so will re-process and try again.

When have you ever been cheeky enough to reprocess someone else's data?
I am just bored that I can't get the opportunity to set up my astro gear.
The only nights where it's possible are on Friday or Saturday & it's always been cloudy in Melbourne -
well for the last 6 months anyway!
I am beginning to think that a remote robotic scope is the only way to go.
( either that or being retired)

Really?
Ok - let's see what you can do with the correct colours.
I did that once but picked it up before stacking because a red frame
stood out from the others when I previewed them all in DSS.
It looked like a Green frame & it was.
