Thanks Mike. It’s interesting to see how the site rotates my images 180 degrees to orientate them for the N hemisphere view. Seems they didn't pay heed to H0ughy's Southern Hemisphere admonishment!

Congrats too to Guillaume.

Cheers

Dennis

RANT RANT RANT RAVE BillOddie Yanks!

Congratulations Dennis for reminding the Americans how small and insignificant they are Well done, now is that the 6th image this year?

yep so the following email was sent, I don't expect a reply!

Subject: Not the correct orientation for Southern Hemisphere images Submitted
Importance: High

Dr Phillips,

I ranted and raved about the plight of us poor Aussies in an email some time ago, and now you have done it again!! You flipped another image just to suit the northern hemisphere!! All that we are asking that the submitted images from the Southern Hemisphere stay in that orientation! What are you going to do if a wide field shot comes in with the moon and planets and Orion and Pleiades "look" upside down to you, flip that image!! Come on mate fair go!

http://www.spaceweather.com/swpod200...ons_strip2.jpg it should be like this http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/a...4&d=1156327066

Dr Phillips Reply............................

OK that was the fastest reply

Hi David,

Dennis's image has been flipped to match the orientation of SOHO images. This minimizes confusion for my readers who see SOHO pictures of the sun every day. Northern vs. southern hemisphere has nothing to do with it.

I promise, any other images I receive of moon and stars will not be gratuitously flipped!

Regards, Tony

I get tired of explaining why I post photos of Orion upside down on a forum in the North .
Congratulations on having your work published Dennis,
Mr Houghy I need a letter of demand to recover a debt...could you draft a suitable letter as I feel the money would come by return mail if you had input .
Good on you it is one thing to grizzle about a situation but quiet another to take action to right a wrong.

Cheers Petra

But your soft tones soothe the beast, just ask the unbeliever

I just don't like it when things get abused and taken for granted, oh but then I am married so I must be a hypocrite

But me thinks IIS has some impact, because the Dr replied so quickly, we do contribute a fair bit to thier site

Thenks Alex , but its Dennis I was originally worried about, cause he would have to start taking images on his head to orient them the "correct" way!! As for debt collecting, not my cup of tea!

I nominate H0ughy for the IIS Union Rep, for affirmative action against those who abuse image orientation etiquette for the Southern Hemisphere.

Who would like to second the nomination?

No salary or perks, just a nice, warm glow when you retire every evening, knowing that you are the sole guardian, champion, protector and mouth piece for hemi spherically challenged Southern Imagers.

Cheers

Dennis
