Prof Brian Cox gets a kicking in The Guardian

Hi,

For your interest. Dr Henry Gee takes issue with Prof Cox on a few things, and promotes his new book while he's at it. He admits he's jealous though

Cheers

Dr Henry Gee says,
"From the point of view of a crow, a human-made TV programme makes no sense at all and therefore has no value."

Were I to rate the opinions of the entities in question, I'd probably rate those of Prof Cox and the crow ahead of Dr. Gee's.
Regards,
Renato

If the truth be told I'm sure it is mostly said tongue in cheek, but I agree that whilst we are unique it'd be foolish to see ourselves too highly above others. Honestly, I dont see any harm in suggesting "if we're so great, why haven't we gone futher"? I think that's exactly the sort of rhetoric we should be pushing. Rather than saying "wow, look how much we've achieved", I'd rather say "wow, look how much we might".

Speaking of Brian Cox...

Did everyone see Brian Cox's pedantic critique of "The Galaxy Song" at the recent O2 Arena Monty Python (Mostly) Live show (probably still available on SBS catch-up), followed up by being well and truly put in his place by Stephen Hawking?

Brilliant! (Who says scientists have no sense of humour?)

Watch it here - watch to the end:

nice one Geoff, I haven't seen the tv show but can sense where it is at from the article. and yes I think i'm siding with Dr Gee on the matter of evolutionary biology, on matters of particle physics I will heed Brian's advice...

I haven't read his book, but the Guardian article makes a lot of good points, and is well written, and seems good natured enough.
Thanks for sharing!
