What's Your Favourite DSO?

What's your favourite DSO?

There was a thread back in Sept 2004:
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...=favourite+dso
but I thought it would be nice to get the preferences of the current members.
Perhaps you could include the RA and Dec for newbies like me

Hi John,
I would have to say that any of the globular clusters would have to be my favourites, some are more spectacular than others but they are all special in their own way

I'm partial to Centaurus A, even though I've barely seen it! Going dark-sky in a week - will provide updates then! Ditto M83......

11 high lights

The following objects occur in 7 lists of southern objects. I looked at 8 lists. The best list is the one in Hartung.
Hartung's Astronomical Objects for Southern Telescopes: A Handbook for Amateur Observers (2nd ed). A southern extension to the Messier Catalogue, page 416.

Globular cluster NGC 104 = 47 Tuc
Nebula NGC 2070 = Tarantula
Nebula NGC 3372 = Eta Carinae
Open cluster NGC 4755 = Jewel Box
Globular cluster NGC 4833 in Musca
Galaxy NGC 5128 = Cen A
Globular cluster NGC 5139 = Omega Cen
Open cluster NGC 6231 in Sco
Globular cluster NGC 6397 in Ara
Galaxy NGC 6744 in Pav, has low surface brightness
Globular cluster NGC 6752 in Pav
