I'd read of this before and seen the tank traps at tenterfield , last week
went for a paddle and fish at paddys flat and theres more of them .
There is a fair bit of angst around the whole time back then and what the powers that be had planned ,its hard to ignore a lot of trouble was went to to build these fortifications without a lot of records intact in regard.
Interesting stuff seeing evidence of the Brisbane Line. From what I've read, which isn't a lot, the line was to extend from Brisbane to north of Adelaide. The rationale being that the populated S.E. was about all that was worth defending.
I do remember , as a young schoolboy in the 50s', on our 1st family holiday up to the north coast, seeing barbed wire entanglements on Park Beach at Coffs Harbour that were left over from coastal defences.
used to stay at the rous battery comand post in the early 80's,the surfers from the60/70s sure had this decked out,,bath /picnic tables on the roof
the whole war history thing around this part of the world is I find most
interesting.

Head west of Dalby QLD and you'll find the remnants of airfields. We used to do training ops out at the old fields. Still had tent poles and the metal grids for runways with grass growing up through it.
