AlignMaster and ASCOM

Hello all,

I am sure that someone here can "set me right".

The problem is that the the ASCOM platform does not connect to the COM3 port on my Win 8.1 laptop.

Last night I was trying to use AlignMaster to align my Az-Eq 6 mount and whenever I tried to connect to the telescope the response was that ASCOM cannot connect. I tried to force the ASCOM platform to find the COM port. initially it would display the right COM port (COM3) then after a while the program would then display COM16 sayng that no comports exist. i checked the COM port and it does control the mount via Stellarium so this port is working.

Please can anyone offer a solution to this ASCOM connection problem.

Many thanks in advance,

jerry.

I agree, I've found for Ascom to connect to mount, the hand controller needs to be in "PC direct" mode

If you are using EQMOD (ASCOM) then EQMOD remembers the very first port that you connected to the mount and will not accept any others without reassinging in the EQMOD tool box.

If you haven't already, check out Chris Shillito's tubes
