We are preparing for the 50th Birthday of SSO with our biggest and best Starfest yet! Special guests including Dr Pamela Gay, Aussie astronaut Andy Thomas, David Malin, ABC Science Show presenter Robyn Williams and much more for Aussie astronomers to really enjoy. Hi Pete,are you having a observation Star Party? and if so who do you plan to be the guest? astronomer.
I mean a three day event like you had last year.?

Hi Astroron,

Due to the bright moon this year during the event the official SSO observing event is not included but there are independent stargazing and sidewalk astronomy sessions going on around Coona.

If your really keen to bring your own scope up for the weekend I'm sure you can get some good viewing in. Send me an email pete@itelescope.net and I may even be able to arrange for some IISer's to use their own scopes up on the SSO mountain at some time during the weekend.

Hi all when is the starfest at siding springs this year?? I am keen to go and see our wonders and maybe capture some good deepsky imaging myself..

Just to let you know,the Moon does not set till 01:01 Friday Saturday morning and 01:52 Saturday night Sunday morning, so not a very favourable time to do some deep sky stuff,that is unless you like early morning activities.
