Nebula NGC6357 maelstrom 24hrs

Hi Guys

Nebula NGC6357 in Colour Mapped Narrowband. Big here
Taken on an RCOS 10" RC Scope at f9, SBIG STXL6303E Camera and PME mount at itelescopes Siding Spring Observatory.
Processed with CCDstack, Star Tools and Photoshop. 24 hrs Total exposure time.
Ha, SII,Ha,OIII. Mapped as LRGB

Ha 13hrs, 40min subs bin1. SII 5hrs 40min subs bin2, OIII 6hrs 40min subs bin2.

Unreal. I've never seen this before. Too cool for school.

Although, if I could provide one note of critique: I'd prefer it with less contrast. It almost looks like it's black clipping in areas. It likely isn't, but, it just feels that way.

It is black clipped (loaded it in PS) - I think a lot more nebulosity will pop if the black is moved back just behind the tail of the histogram.

Thanks Guys. Yes, its clipped, its quick way to rid background noise etc and anyway too much noisy neb can just look (more) messy.

Sure an image of great impact Fred! If it was not for the title I would have never guessed it was NGC6357, surely a fresh perspective on a popular target

Heaps of cool detail Fred and groovy colours. As I said on FB I like the colours and even though the saturation is more than I could handle doing myself; I think this really works for you. Nice going.
