OKay here is what happens when you dont use long enough screws and drop it while working on it.

That's a shame Andrew.

I'm sure you'll fix it

Nice parts Andrew.

You could probably make a Dob base out of those bits!

Andrew, Sorry, .. to see your newly completed project in sooooo many pieces...
Re; your uprights/side plates??? & the Ebony Star, just make sure that you're far enough away from the Teflon pads.....Oh, & I suggest at least 2 1/2" or 3" x 10 g CSH screws for all joints. Predrill of course.... L.

If the base is not going to be collapsible (on purpose that is) maybe some liquid nails along the joints to make them permanent.

Look on the bright side, at least your scope was not on it at the time

Rob is right. As a carpenter by trade for years I always glued and screwed, or glued and nailed. The screws and / or nails are gust there to hold until the glue sets. If you use the right glue the joints will be as strong as the wood itself.

Look at the bright side.... it didn't fall apart while the scope was on it.

Okay I have fixed the scope now, the inside had been strengthened quite a bit thanks to a few brackets.
