wanted - BIG glass!!! I'm after big mirrors
Hi all,
I'm looking for BIG mirrors!
The mirror does not need to be in pristine condition. Doesn't need to be in great condition. OK to good is fine. Coating quality isn't all that critical, and a few scratches won't hurt me, as long as it is still 'useable' it will be fine - you might be surprised just how poor the coating can be and the mirror is still useable!
If you have a BIG mirror that has seen better days, please PM me.
If there is also a secondary mirror that goes with that BIG primary, I am interested in it too.
If you have a big primary that is worse for wear, and not too sure if it would be suitable for me, still please PM me. I would love to hear about what you have.
If you know of a mirror that someone else has, please let me know too!
BIG would be 14" and over.
I'm in Sydney.
Cheers,
Alex.

Do you need the mirror permanently or would a loan for a few months be enough? I have a 16" Lightbridge that won't be in working order any time soon.

Hi David,
Permanent would be ideal as I can then work with the mirror without fear of causing it injury, which is why I am not too concerned about condition. Loan could work too as I require the mirror for the creative part of scope design, with the ballast, size and focus of the mirror being of main concern. Not that I'll be rolling the primary mirror down the hall way, or putting my coffee cup on it. For prototype building, a pristine/loan mirror would be my second choice, but would work.
My request for mirrors is not first as a 'stock procurement' one. Too many variables this way. It is for a workhorse lot of glass that can deal with a little rough and tumble. Now if the mirror is pristine, cotton gloves are in my kit too.

Hi Alexander,
Would you be interested in a 2ndary optical flat, measuring 65mm minor axis & 92mm major axis. coating is still ok, a couple of small minor blemishes on the edge, nothing much.
Suits a 12" F5 or a 14" F6'ish. can send pics.
Ill send it to you for $40 if interested ?

Hi all,
Still looking for large mirrors.
Can be installed in an existing scope if it makes things easier.
If you know of a big mirror/scope that is not being used or needs a new home, please let me know.
Alex.
