M8 - The Lagoon Nebula

Hi everyone.

Continued with the long focal length work/fun this month by imaging the Lagoon. There are many different ways to frame M8 at this FL, I hope I've presented a nice view

I remembered to take some shorter subs for the stars this time to combine with the longer subs. I used both the HDR Composition and Masked stretch tools in Pixinsight to combine the data. The Masked Stretch tool was quite handy, I basically followed Harrys method here.

Imaged with the C11 Edge HD with .7x reducer (1960mm FL), Canon 60Da.

46 x 300sec subs for the field. 20 x 30 sec subs for the stars.

Processed in Pixinsight with darks and flats.

Large click here

Thanks for looking

Edit: I added another version with the reds pushed a little.

Cheers

Rod

Very interesting image, with many details of edges of the nebula. Nice stars, with good color, The nebula is a little bit purple; I believe you can enhance its color with more red.

Great detail there, Rod. The colour is nice too. Perhaps just a little more red as Jorge suggested?

Awesome image Rod!

Nicely processed so much detail.
Versatile scope you have there.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks for the feedback Jorge I've added a second image with the reds pushed a bit to the original post, what do you think? I like'em both.

Thanks Justin! Yes the C11 Edge HD is great. Its ability to image at both short and long focal lengths, add the use as a large aperture visual scope was what made it the right choice for me.

Cheers

Thanks Marc! I was second guessing the framing but only after I had captured an hour of data, so I just went with it. Glad you like it.
