Meade 10 inch sct with hyper star lens Meade 10 inch sct with hyper star lens MEADE 10 INCH SCT WITH HYPER STAR LENS I have decided to sell off most of my equipment as I haven’t been able to use it due to bad weather and changing circumstances. It will be a few years before I will have the free time and before I can set up a permanent observatory so it all has to go. If you don’t know what a HyperStar system is it turns an f10 SCT into a super fast f2 imaging scope. The primary advantage of HyperStar is speed. Exposures that take the better part of an hour at f/10 take mere seconds with the HyperStar lens!
I have put this system together and haven’t got to use it, the Meade SCT tube has been modified with a constant pressure adjustable spring system to keep a constant forward pressure on the mirror assembly so fine focus without lag can be achieved with the HyperStar. This Hyperstar is the third generation and last model produced and now no longer available. It has the collimation adjustment only found on the newer models. The second- and third- generation models feature collimation adjustments and independent camera rotation, allowing the camera to be oriented in any position without affecting collimation. Comes with the secondary mirror protector. The Meade HyperStar system can only be used with the older pre ACF Meade telescopes. This HyperStar system also comes with the Meade conversion kit, these usually cost an extra $300 this allows any non HyperStar Meade to be converted to use HyperStar. Also included are the original Meade parts to convert the telescope back to its original state should you wish to sell the HyperStar and the OTA separately sometime in the future. Comes with a custom made adapter / spacer that allows a filter to be inserted before the camera ideal for HA photography. Three adapter / spacers are included.
