Developing a style

Like I suppose most people here Ive been taking images for a while.
Initially I was obsessed with photography and traipsed a Nikon and all the gear in a large photo case all around Europe etc but that stopped when work became more intense and when travelling I relied upon a small Sony point and shoot.
But since I retired I realised that the camera was not capturing what I wanted and so I looked around for a system to travel with which had excellent lenses and was light.
In the end I purchased an Olympus OMD EM5 with all the primes and a couple of zooms. Its small enough to take anywhere and shower proofed as well so I started taking some more images - but what I realised was that I had lost my individual style and wasnt taking the images I wanted to.
So my partner and I had planned a trip to china wherein I took ~2500 images and Im slowly going through them to put together a Momento book or two covering the trip. I think Ive finally found the type of image I want to take and record but really the camera and its primes are superb and make the visualisation process easier.
Sorry about the jpeg compressions but reducing them really cuts up the detail and clarity.

Nice shots, Allan!

My wife has an OM-D as well. It's a lot easier to carry around than my Nikon D800E but the Nikon definitely has an image quality advantage. Still, either is capable of taking a great photo in the right hands (not necessarily mine).

Thanks for that Rick. Bringing the images from 7Mb down to 200k certainly messes with the image quality. I must admit that the em5 really has fantastic quality for M4/3 and I'm very, very happy with it and the RAW files have a better or greater contrast range than any other camera which really helps get the shadows and highlights under control.

Thanks Graham, glad you liked the old fella as he had just spent the day in the rice fields and I managed to get a grab shot as I was cycling past. The EM5 has very quick autofocus.

Good work Allan. I know what you mean. I am trying to create my own style as well with terrestial imaging. I think it comes from taking lots of shots and then seeing which ones you like the best and others like the best.
