Quick Moonage from 06/08/06

Captured these last night. Very ordinary seeing conditions, so I captured some long videos (1800-2000 frames) to get enough to work with.

Just ducked home for lunch to do a quick process and post.

Details later... + more to come... gotta get back to work.

Wonderful portfolio that belies the seeing you describe. Love the colour enhanced Clavius. Very accomplished results for the C8.

Cheers

Whew!

Back at work now Ving!... The weird colour in the third one is a bit of an experiment. A while ago someone posted a great looking image of the full moon in saturated colour... so I had a play with that... captured in colour then saturated in PS CS2. I'm not convinced that all the colour is genuinely from the moon, I think there's some variation across the CCD showing up there . I need to play with it a bit more to get a handle on it, but it would be nice to think the colours were geniune and subtle variations could be highlighted this way (as I'm sure it could be with the right camera).

They are excellent Al, I think some of your best images right there.

They're all great - you must be pleased.

Thanks Dennis! I'm really pleased with the results given the seeing conditions! ... and especially my Aristarchus... woohoo... I didn't burn the crater out!

Details

Details for all the above images are pretty similar apart from obvious colour difference on one.

Capture:
Negative projection: C8, 2.5x Powermate, moon filter, ToUcam.
K3ccdtools: approx 1800-2000frames at 10fps, brightness 50 - 75%, gamma 0 - 30%, monochrome, 1/25 sec, gain 15-20%.

Processing:
registax: best 100 - 150 frames stacked, wavelets (sorry - rush job didn't write them down! )
Photoshop CS2: save for web (and saturate the colour one!)

Judging from the posts, hasn't everyone been busy little lunar imagers!!

Just processing the rest of my images now... will post later.

Al.
