IC2177, a late Seagull

Hi all, I just posted a picture of the Seagull Nebula, an object that I have been chasing for a while. It is a composition which integrates signal from all six filters that I mounted on my CCD, Ha-OIII-LRGB
The link:

Seagul Nebula

Unfortunately, I had to discharge most of the data taken through the blue channel (due to passing high-clouds), however exposure particularly deep in L and Ha produced an image with relatively little noise that I could stretch to bring out different shades often not so visible in other images of the area.

As usual vision at full resolution (last icon at bottom right) is recommended to show different details in the dust and various nebulae. A very nice area is at the bottom right, showing several particular items and a lovely color range.

Comments and criticism welcome

Thanks Mike! In fact I should get some more sleep I have fixed it! The hot pink/Magenta is mostly coming from the combination of Ha and OIII and it is the same color I got from the RGB channels, so it is indeed there

Great image Marco! Beautiful framing and wonderfully vivid neb colour! Full res shows the detail off very nicely.

Being picky, I'm wondering if you've lost a bit of the fainter star's colours - particularly in the nebulous areas?

Cheers, Marcus

Hi Marcus, there is a stronger contribution of the Ha filters on the faint areas so perhaps you are right, even if I believe it is more due to the effect of the Ha on the stars haloes. I will double check this as I get back home (I am in a biz trip these days).

Regards
Marco

another very beautiful image Marco - wonderful colour saturation and the bits and pieces of "stuff" that you pointed out are interesting.
