Thanks Rowland, Bruce, and Kevin. I've had a little play, and blown it up.
I'm going to try an EP projection version, and see how the sharpness
compares with blowing up this one.[when the weather allows].

I am impressed with your results.
Can I ask what scope and guiding set up you use?
Also, do you dither? Are you shooting RAW or Jpeg? Do you apply noise reducers?
Inquisitive, I know. But I really want to know how you do it.
Please share the details.
Hi Max, nice to here from a new voice. I'm pushing 80, and struggle with the black art of digital imaging, so I keep it simple.
8" f/5 Newt on HEQ5 mount. Unguided. I don't have any means of guiding, and can't be bothered with manual guiding any more, it gives
me a crick in the neck. JPEGS only, too much hassle converting raw
files. I haven't dithered up to now, as I figure that imperfect polar
alignment allowing the target to slowly migrate across the frame does
it for me. I don't do separate darks, flats, biases etc: It is a bit
inconvenient, but I just enable in camera noise reduction. Stack in DSS,
Do the simple RGB, luminance, and saturation in DSS. A little touch of
sharpening, and downsizing for the web in Canon software that came with the camera, and that's it.
cheers raymo
Raymo, that looks awesome, I was trying to image M16 last time I was out, and ended up with nothing but streaks, I was trying to do 3 minute subs, that didn't work out... well done.
thanks a lot for sharing the secrets. I am going to try the same and see how I go. What you achieved with the basics outguns my guided, raw converted, darkframed, photoshop results
I enjoy being out there taking pictures. The digital processing isn't my facourite pastime.
Thanks for the inspiration!
