Lambda Centauri in Deep RGB

With more accurate flats the DBE (Dynamic Background Extraction) module of PixInsight does a far better job of subtracting gradients/light pollution.

Below is a screen capture showing before and after using DBE. This all happens with the data unstretched ie linear and at 32 bit FP. The size of these images are 442 MB fits!
The Screen Transfer Function only stretches the image so it is visible. It does not affect the actual image file.

Here is the final processed image 18MB

Exposures were 15x6 min for each of RGB.

The dust comes up quite well. The stars too well.

Sorry something is not right. Looks like you went over board with the minimum filter tool. Black point clipped background too. In between the stars are large black blotches. I won't talk about the stars either.

As usual Paul you are absolutely correct.

Here is a version just for you.

It is impossible to contract the dynamic range of reality to eight bits on a computer screen. My screen actually shows 10 bits in full colour gamut.

I am so sorry for putting up an image that does not conform to your standards. I do not even know what a minimum filter tool is. Is it a way to stop tools from having an effect?

I think Paul is talking about the woefull Thumbnail, 18m squashed to 171KB !.

Both link versions are fine. The second 151KB thumbnail is even worse.
