Well did some work to an AVI that I took on the 7/8 March.
AVI taken at f20
907 frames.
Exposure 1/25 sec
Gain 60%
15fps.

Reasonably happy with this, but could be better focus. Seing was pretty average although good for this time of the year. Just processed in Registax3 only.

When you attach the toucam, do you use a barlow or or something. Those images are huge.

Yes I attach the barlow directly to the scope then the Diagonal and then the Toucam to the Diagonal. Then when I process I do a 1.3 resample. The result is the image that you see before you.

Thanks Paul, wasn't exactly sure how or if you could use the Barlow with the cam. It sure helps.

Why 15fps? (just curious).
BTW, well done on the blowing of your own trumpet, I tend to combine mine as you see here, so when I get to 500 I will be happy.

Just so I don't get a wrap around the wrist by a moderator, I have PM'd Ving.

On a off topic of frame rates, whats the advantage of doing an image at 15fps compared to 5fps? Would it make more detail come out of Jupiter using the same method as Paul has done or is it all in the compression of the image?

I also noticed a bit of bluish hue on the edge of Jupiter, would a minus violet filter help eliminate this and can one be used on a webcam?

Is there an AVI available that I can play around with, gain some experience with using the programs? Personal use only, I don't steal other peoples work

Nice shot Paul

I think its a big improvement on the colour and contrast/brightness of your last one.

Andrew, from what I understand (and I'm still learning in a big way) Its the exposure rate that "stills" the jiggly image and to a degree determines how much colour you get (along with saturation, gain etc), frame rate tends to determine how much compression gets done to the image (and consequently how much detail is kept of the image). The faster the frame rate the more compression to get it down the usb line before the next image is ready to download. So its a bit of a balancing act of trying to get as many images per second with reducing compression to a minimum.

At least that's how I understand it.

Thanks all for the comments. I know that this scope is capable of much more than that. Perfectionist tendencies are starting to niggle at me and want to get the collimation even better still. I think that my secondary is offset optically and need to test for this. Reading Star Testing at the moment and want to get the best performance out of this scope. Some nicer seeing with cooler evenings is starting to happen and so this will improve the quality of the shots. This shot is not my best yet, although this one is
