Fluorine lens coating

A fabulous new invention being promoted by Nikon.

It would seem to be good news if it worked on telescope objectives. Cleaning the lens would never be a problem again.

Thats pretty neat. They need to have that on all exterior glass elements.

Does it hinder the light transmission at all?

I've seen other manufacturers mention "fluorine" coatings before.

What's so special or different about this one?
