Saturn Occultaion, so close, but so far....

Hi all,

Saturn went behind the Moon this morning, did you catch it? Very difficult conditions, not only was it daylight, but we had terrible cloud and only a couple of breaks.. It was quite difficult focusing etc with the heat coming off the shed though. I was able to capture this though, about a few minutes before it hid from view.

Taken with a Philips 900NC and 8" F/4 Newt.

Good capture. Nothing but wall-to-wall cloud down here earlier. Clear patch where the moon is now but more cloud rolling in.

Nice shot & good going Andrew Was looking at cloud charts over Aus earlier and doubt many will have had much better chances, even perth is clouded, tho maybe some lucky breaks here & there

Nice one Andrew: pretty much cloud free in the Pilbara, good observing, but the imaging set up is at home - on the east coast

Thanks guys. I also found another video with Saturn in it as it was going behind the moon, not very good, but got this image from it...

Through binoculars and thin cloud I managed to observe both ingress and, with more cloud, a very faint egress. I observed the elongation of the planet as it neared the limb of the moon, caused by the rings. melbourne suburbia, make it approximately 37.52 or thereabouts/

Does anyone know when the next one is?
