ipad astronomy

I bit the bullet and bought my daughter (me !!) an ipad with retina display to use.
Now, when I get it back from her I can look at my stuff on it - what are folks loading on theirs re. Astro software?
I have Sky Safari on my phone already
Anyone tried the SKYX for ipad out?
any other recommendations ?

I use Sky Safari Pro as my default - terrific implementation on the iPad.

Another on that I use all the time is "AstroAid". http://www.ilanga.com/astroaid/

Perfect for planning AP and visual, by getting your FOV just right (and giving an expectation of what you'll see -- covering all the Messier, Caldwell, IC and NGC).

Did you get the regular ipad or the mini Graham?
I was the winner of a basic 16gb ipad mini and would like to turn that to my "astropad"
I use a great app called Willy Weather on my iphone, has the usual temp, rain etc, but also moon phases and tide info. But it doesn't work on the ipad.
Also, I am pretty sure the wifi/bluetooth modules sold by Cathy (Coldknights) would work with Sky Safari, but others may have first hand experience with this.

Hi Bo and others,
Thank You for the mention !
Apple is Wifi only for iPads and works fine with SkySafari 4 pro !

If you have A wifi unit of ours it will works with both iPad or Android.

Hi Graham,
If you have the pinouts of the RS232 we can custom make a cable up From the WIFI to the PMX mount.

With the mount you have don't SB have there own WIFI you plug in to the main board !

$225 USD plus postage and you can only use it on SB MX ,ME mounts and can not plug it in to other brands .
Where our one is $130 and can adapt to other mounts as well as your PMX ! Just a different cable is needed ...

Looks like only pc,mac,iPad
