New Scope!

Hi all,

Just letting everyone know that I am now the proud owner of a Skywatcher 8" f6 Newtonian. It came with tube rings and dovetail aswell as the alt bearings, but I havent reinstalled them yet. I did however reinstall the focuser and added the orion accufocus to it. Had a quick try out on the moon and Jupiter, great image scale and very clear image. I think this will be a great scope once I get the collimation back to where it was. (oh is that what that screw does oops)

I did notice some minor pin holes in the coating when I had a laser pointing down it, but thats nothing. The focuser is crap, I will be changing this over to my NGF-DX1 later, but for now I need to get a temporary base made up so I can use it as a DOB.

I think once I make up a base and start using it,it will be one hell of a scope. Can't complain for $200

Nice scope Andrew! Gotta love those 8" newts. The white OTA looks so much more classy than the typical black that you normally see.

psst.... once you build a dob base, build another base for it! Check the first project from my sites "Build" page.
