The Beauty Outside

Sometimes we spend so much time inside, staring at the TV, lounging around on the couch or looking at social media that we forgot to head outside and look up! There’s so much beauty in our night sky – unfortunately it’s getting harder and harder to see from our light polluted towns and cities.

I took this image of the ‘top house’ at the Lostock Scout Camp while returning after my drive around the fields capturing nightscapes. I had originally stopped on the side of the road to look at a tree stump and see if it could be the foreground element, but a herd of sleeping cows changed my plans. When I turned around and saw this view, I had to capture it!

Captured with a Canon 6D, Nikon 14-24mm lens @ 14mm, 20s exposure at f/2.8 ISO6400.

Very nice Mike!

I love how the house is lighting up the tree.

You're right..and clearly ya never know what might come out from behind a tree at Lostock

Nice view, the house shows us humans inside while that vista is in the sky outside..usually hidden behind bright city skies...works well

Lovely image, Nice balance in the shot with the bright light of the house and the sky. Also good message about getting outside and also touches on the light pollution issue

Thanks Rod, yeh it worked out well. I thought it would overwhelm it but it was just right.

Cheers Mike. There were some scary cows shining their red eyes at me just before this

Thanks Matt, it's a shame how many just don't know what's up there/out there.

THanks Carlos, quite a bit of a backlog. A few timelapses too!
