Prime Focus Help :(

As I mentioned in another thread I got a T-ring to attach my DSLR camera to my scope via the Barlow adapter. Anyway, all seemed to be perfect, the camera was perfectly attached.... But when I turn it on it says "lens not attached" and won't shoot... It was just a test because the weather is awful, but....
Am I doomed or are there any settings I can change??? Maybe something shouldn't be automatic?

Some DSLRs have a small pin that gets pushed in when the lense is attached, it could be that your camera has one and it is not making contact with the adaptor.

Thanks, the problem was that is was not in manual mode.

The only problem is that the photos are much brighter than they appear to be in the live view... But I guess I can change the exposure then it should be fine. I'll also check the manual mode settings (aperture etc.)

A lot of DSLR's have a setting in the Menu that allows 'no lens' operation.
> Barry, what is your 'low cost' point ? For DSLR the Canon 1100D (I think) seems to be the preferred beast due to low cost and good sensor characteristics. I have the SONY SLT A77v which is an excellent camera for the purpose but (a) it is not cheap and (b) It doesn't have Live View as the Canon gear does. I have seriously considered buying one based on reports from here with modding etc but I suspect that SWMBO would probably have something to say about it.

Brent, ideally <$500. I currently have a Sony NEX-3 which is fairly decent - its main drawback is that in 'bulb' mode, you need to manually press-and-hold the shutter release button! So it's essentially useless for longer exposures - a stupid design decision. For 30' and less, I'm having success with it (it has a 2-10 sec delay option for shutter), so I'm in no rush to upgrade, but am canvassing the options!
